Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2026
This policy covers the Steal An Egg Index app for iPhone, iPad and Android, and the website stealaneggindex.com.
No accounts, no ads, no in-app purchases, and no chat. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, photos, contacts or exact location.
The app sends usage data, with no name or email, to Google Firebase so we can see which features people use. The website uses our own Plausible analytics, which sets no cookies.
On your device
These stay on your phone. We never receive them:
- Your favorite pets
- Your notification choices (update reminders and new pet alerts)
- A counter for the rating prompt: how many pet pages you have opened, and the app version we last asked in
- A saved copy of the pet and update data, so the app works offline
Update reminders are alarms your device schedules by itself. They never go through a server.
App analytics
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase. It sends these events:
- Which screen you open
- Which pet or zone page you open, the pet's rarity and zone, and which list you came from
- Filters and sorting you pick on the Index
- Calculator use: the pet, the mutation, and whether you entered a weight
- What you type into pet search (first 40 characters) and how many results it found
- Adding or removing a favorite
- Setting an update reminder, and opening the app from one
- Your notification choices on first launch, and whether you allowed notifications
- When the rating prompt was shown
Firebase also records the basics it collects in every app: a random ID for this install, device model, operating system and app version, language, a rough location (country, region or city) worked out from your IP address, when and for how long the app is used, and whether a notification was opened. On iPhone and iPad it uses Apple's identifier for vendor. The app never asks to track you and does not read the advertising identifier on either iPhone (IDFA) or Android (advertising ID collection is switched off and the permission is removed).
We use this only to see which features people use. It is not linked to any advertising product, and Google signals is turned off. Google keeps event details for 2 months, and data tied to the install ID for 14 months after the app was last used.
The search box is for pet names. Please don't type personal information into it.
Notifications
- Update reminders: scheduled on your device only, as described above.
- New pets and big events: only if you turned this on and allowed notifications. Your device then joins two broadcast lists in Firebase Cloud Messaging, one for everyone and one for your platform (iOS or Android). Google gives the install a push token to deliver messages. We never see or store that token, and every message goes to everyone on the list.
You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, and switch update reminders off in the Updates tab.
Rating prompt
After you open 6 pet pages, or set an update reminder, the app may ask Apple or Google to show their rating window, at most once per app version. Apple or Google decide whether it appears. We don't learn whether you rated, and any rating or review you leave is handled by the App Store or Google Play.
The website
stealaneggindex.com uses Plausible Analytics, running on our own server (stats.01max.net). It sets no cookies and does not follow you across other sites.
It records the page you visit, the site that sent you, your browser, operating system and device type, a rough location from your IP address, and links you click to other sites. Your IP address is not stored. It only goes into a visitor count that resets every day.
The website saves nothing in your browser and has no notifications.
Other services
Some content loads from other companies' servers:
- Pet pictures come from the Steal An Egg Wiki's image server (Fandom), and a few game images from Roblox's image server. When a picture loads, Fandom or Roblox receives your IP address and basic device or browser information, under their own privacy policies.
- Pet data and the website are delivered by Cloudflare, which handles the same kind of request information to serve them.
- Links to the wiki or to Roblox open their websites, which have their own policies.
Google, Cloudflare and our analytics server may process this data outside your country, for example in the United States.
Game data
Pet stats, eggs and drop chances come from the Steal An Egg Wiki on Fandom, shared under CC BY-SA. Update times come from the game's official Roblox events page. None of it is about you.
Children
Many Steal An Egg players are kids, so we keep this simple. There are no accounts, no chat, no ads and no purchases, and we don't collect names, email addresses or any other personal information from anyone. The only data that leaves the device is the usage data described above, which has no name attached.
Parents and guardians can email us at any time with questions or requests:
Deleting your data
- App: deleting the app removes everything it saved on your device and resets its analytics ID.
- Website: it stores nothing in your browser, so there is nothing to clear.
- Analytics: it carries no name or email, so we can't look up one person's data. Google deletes it automatically on the schedule above. If you have a request, email us and we will help.
